Strengthening R&D&I to design safer and more efficient silos

The R&D&I department is being strengthened through the expansion of the technical team, driving an annual plan aimed at expanding and improving the range of silo accessories, optimising processes and launching new products tailored to the needs of the global market.

In recent months, this work has resulted in advances such as an improved, more compact aeration ring for hoppers, designed to facilitate assembly, improve integration with existing systems and reduce maintenance requirements. Furthermore, a new peak platform has been developed to ensure safe access to the top of the silo, incorporating safety railings, a connection to the ladder and a non-slip grating floor.

Beyond these developments, the R&D&I department works across multiple key strategic areas for the storage sector:

Structural and materials optimisation, aimed at increasing the durability, strength and efficiency of steel usage, reducing costs and improving the service life of the facilities.

Innovation in grain storage systems, including improvements in ventilation, temperature control and condensation prevention, with the aim of preserving the quality of the stored product.

Digitalisation and monitoring, integrating sensors, automation and smart solutions that enable real-time monitoring of the silo’s condition and facilitate decision-making.

Operational safety, developing solutions that minimise risks during installation, maintenance and the day-to-day use of the facilities.

Sustainability and energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact through more efficient designs and resource optimisation.

Standardisation and modularity, facilitating faster, scalable installations that are adaptable to different projects and markets.

The R&D&I department maintains a firm commitment to innovation in every detail, understanding that improving the overall performance of a silo does not depend on a single element, but on the joint optimisation of all its components.

Thanks to this approach, solutions are developed that not only improve the operability and safety of each facility, but also help to ensure that grain is stored in the best possible conditions, delivering direct value to the customer.
